What you can do inside College Data Engine
This page summarizes the major student-planning workflows currently available in the app, what each one does, and how to reach it.
Most features unlock after the student profile has enough academic, extracurricular, and preferences data to produce meaningful recommendations. Start at Profile if you are just getting started.
Profile Setup
Build your student profile with academic context, extracurriculars, awards, intended majors, and personality/preferences so the recommendation engine has meaningful input.
How to access it
Open `Start Analysis` in the top nav, then complete the `Basic Profile`, `Academics`, `Extracurriculars`, and `Personality and Preferences` sections on the Profile page.
Dashboard
Use the main student dashboard as the central launch point for the app’s recommendation, planning, and report workflows.
How to access it
After saving a profile, click `Open analysis` near the top of the app.
College Recommendations
Generate a balanced college list with reaches, hard targets, soft targets, and safeties using acceptance probability, fit, quality, and school context.
How to access it
From the dashboard or feature menu, open `College Recommendations`.
Manage My College List CRM
Search for colleges, add them to your list, track application plans, view deadlines, pull supplementals, draft AO emails, and monitor communication history.
How to access it
Click `Manage my College List` at the top of the app or open it from the dashboard.
SAT / ACT Analysis
Store multiple SAT and ACT sittings, calculate superscores, compare your current testing against college ranges, and search school-specific score bands.
How to access it
Click `SAT / ACT Analysis` at the top of the app after your profile sections are completed.
Academic + EC Recommendations
Get AP, dual-enrollment, certification, extracurricular, volunteer, leadership, research, and competition recommendations tailored to the student profile.
How to access it
Open `Academic + EC Recommendations` from the feature menu or dashboard.
Essay/Supplement Outlines
Generate editable personal statement, text supplement, and video supplement drafts using the student profile, chosen college, and specific prompt context.
How to access it
Open `Essay/Supplement Outlines` from the feature menu or dashboard, choose an essay type, then click `Generate Ideas and Outlines`.
Essay Evaluation
Upload or paste an essay draft and get structured feedback using the paid review workflow and credit-based monthly usage.
How to access it
Open `Essay Evaluation` from the feature menu.
Financial + ROI Analysis
Compare colleges on affordability, likely financial pressure, return on investment, and value tradeoffs for the student and family.
How to access it
Open `Financial + ROI Analysis` from the feature menu or dashboard.
CUNY / SUNY Recommendations
Review ranked New York public options with ROI, commute, cost, and academic fit emphasized for NYC families.
How to access it
Open `CUNY / SUNY Recommendations` from the feature menu or dashboard.
Printable Report
Open a print-friendly summary report of the student profile and recommendation outputs.
How to access it
From the dashboard, click `Open printable report`.
Pricing + Subscription Management
View monthly pricing, subscribe, manage billing status, review payment history, and cancel at period end from the account area.
How to access it
Use `Pricing` in the top nav to subscribe and `My Account` in the top right to review subscription details.
Contact Us
Send feedback, feature suggestions, or data requests to the CDE team using the in-app contact form.
How to access it
Click `Contact Us` in the top nav, fill out the form, and press `Send`.
